$$$ REWARD ** $2,000.00 CASH ** REWARD $$$
October 22, 2011
For years there have been rumors going around Oswego regarding the death of Thomas Coyle, a 49 year-old construction worker, who was found dead in the street in front of his 41 West Third St. rooming house at 2:37 AM Sunday July 28,1968. I was away in college at the time and never heard about it until about 1974. I was having a drink with some friends after work when an older barrel-chested man walked into the bar. There is Tarzan Brady someone said. Who the hell is Tarzan Brady I asked. Allegedly he had just gotten out of jail and allegedly some years before he and another person had jumped a guy down by the lake on West Third St., then beaten and robbed the man who later died from his injuries. It was not until a few years ago when I first heard the name Dave White in connection with this story. At the time I began getting occasional emails, which alleged that Ed (Tarzan ) Brady and Dave White had acted together in the robbery and death of Thomas Coyle. This was also the first time I had heard the name of the man who died. One email gave a link to a web page called "The Zoo". In a post dated Friday, April 3, 2009 the anonymous author writes….
“Oswego, NY Amazing! Cold Case “
“Oswego, NY is a place were you can commit literally murder and get away with it!”
The author then goes on to give a semi detailed account of what is called murder.
The few newspaper accounts at the time only speak of the man being found dead in the road with an injury to his skull. There was no information as to an official police finding only that hit and run had been ruled out.
Was this a random act or was Coyle a target?
Was it murder, robbery gone bad, or death by misadventure?
If the remains were exhumed today's forensics would surely clarify many questions and maybe even produce DNA evidence.
There are too many unanswered questions.
I had heard on a couple of occasions that the Oswego Police records from that time period came up missing after the departments last move from city hall to the current location in the Conway building. I FOILED for the records of the investigation into Thomas Coyle’s death and the answer was
No Records Found.
In fairness to Mr. White and Mr. Brady and any remaining family of Thomas Coyle I have decided to offer a reward of two thousand dollars to anyone who can provide clear and convincing evidence that will either exonerate or convict those who have been anonymously accused on The ZOO or anyone else who may have been involved. Allegedly there were two witnesses who saw what happened. Maybe there were others who just hid behind their window curtains.
Fact or fiction lets end this once and for all and bring some closure to everyone concerned.
